Description
Angle Class I with skeletal open bite exhibits a normal anteroposterior occlusal relationship between the first permanent molars, but with a disharmonious vertical relationship of the upper and lower anterior teeth (negative overbite). Open bite malocclusion can lead to severe functional and aesthetic issues for the individual, often considered a challenging malocclusion to resolve. The objective of our case was to correct the open bite by eliminating posterior interference using the techniques of Gummetal edgewise archwire (GEAW) and the use of mandibular mini-implants. The use of GEAW and mandibular mini-implants successfully eliminated posterior interference through molar intrusion, promoting the reconstruction of the occlusal plane, mandibular counterclockwise rotation, and closure of the skeletal open bite.
